This rare six-layer, egg-shaped male, Chevron Rosetta bead is estimated to have been produced in the late 20th century in Murano (Venice) and traded in West Africa. The star pattern is crisp and symmetrical, and slightly uneven, suggesting high quality craftsmanship. Considering how large the bead is, it was designed more as a statement or trade-display bead than a bead used for jewelry. This bead was acquired from a Ghanaian bead merchant.
This bead consist of white, green, white, red, white, green layers. Totalling six layers.
The main body and core (star) of the bead is white–bead is smooth; slightly irregular in shape; no pits or scratches are seen on the bead's surface. Small pitting is observed inside the edges of the core are that appears to be part of the natural finishing by the glass-maker and does not look unnatural or caused by negligence. Colors are bright and texture smooth. The bead's ends are polished. Overall excellent condition.
Approximately measures (central bead): 59 mm (long) or 2" (long), 40 mm (diameter) or 1.5" wide, 10 mm hole size
